Cleburne baseball’s season came to an end in the opening round of the Class 5A Division I Region I playoffs.
Paschal completed a two-game sweep of the Yellow Jackets at Weatherford High School, including an 11-4 victory in the deciding game Saturday. The series schedule was split between Wednesday and Saturday because of uncertainty surrounding the weather forecast. Paschal also won the opener 2-0, as Cleburne struggled against strong pitching throughout the series.
Despite the early playoff exit, the Yellow Jackets put together an impressive comeback season. Cleburne battled through the second half of the District 8-5A schedule to secure a postseason berth and finished the year with a 22-9 record.
The Class 5A Region I track and field meet also concluded Friday and Saturday in Lubbock. Nico Flores placed seventh in the 800 meters, Braydon Deskins posted a 4:38 time in the 1,600, and CJ Kensley finished fourth in the high jump while setting a personal-best mark of 6 feet, 6 inches.
