It was a tough week for Cleburne Jackets baseball during the rivalry series against Burleson. The Jackets dropped both games to the co-district leader Elks, 9-7 and 19-4, falling to 13-7-1 overall and 1-5 in District 8-5A. The losses put Cleburne in a hole in the district playoff race. Adjusted for the Easter holiday, the Jackets face Mansfield Timberview this week: Tuesday at home and Thursday on the road. Prior to the Burleson series, Cleburne defeated Wichita Falls Memorial 12-2 in a non-district matchup on March 21.
Lady Jackets softball continues its fight for a playoff berth at 11-16 overall and 3-5 in 8-5A. The team sits in fifth place, one game behind Mansfield Timberview. Last week, Cleburne beat Arlington Seguin 14-4 but fell to district leader Burleson Centennial, 14-0. This week’s schedule features a Johnson County rivalry series: home against Joshua on Tuesday and at Burleson on Thursday.
