Soccer and basketball seasons are underway at Corsicana High School, with both programs looking to gain momentum as district play heats up.

The Tiger boys soccer team has started 3-1, including a 5-1 victory over Mansfield Timberview Tuesday. Chris Velasquez led the charge with a hat trick and added assists on the other two goals. Corsicana opened last week at the Forney Tournament with a 2-1 record and is now competing in the Waco Tournament, which began Thursday and runs through Saturday.

Lady Tiger soccer is still searching for consistency. They tied China Spring 2-2 Tuesday, hoping to rebound after going winless in the season-opening Waco LaVega tournament. The Lady Tigers will host Jacksonville Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Basketball is also in full swing. Tiger boys are 4-11 overall and 1-1 in District 15-5A following a 41-36 win over Kaufman Tuesday. Lady Tiger basketball sits at 6-11 and 1-3 in district play after a 59-41 loss to Kaufman. Both teams will travel to Midlothian Friday for district matchups.
