It’s time to officially wrap up Corsicana’s 2025 football season, one that didn’t finish the way head coach Eugene Rogers and his team hoped, but still marked significant progress. The Tigers ended the year 5-5, a major step forward for a program that entered the fall with a long list of challenges.
Most notably, Corsicana snapped its 25-game district losing streak and then rattled off three straight district wins, putting itself firmly in the District 6-5A playoff conversation deep into the season. The .500 finish also ended a run of three consecutive losing seasons.
Senior quarterback Kevin Pointer Jr. provided steady leadership, while running back Mark Brown elevated his game to another level. However, the key lesson for this team moving forward will be learning how to finish. Corsicana controlled its playoff destiny entering the final two weeks, but couldn’t close the deal and finished fifth in 6-5A at 3-4.
Still, with clear improvement, renewed confidence and emerging playmakers, the Tigers head into the offseason with plenty to build on.
On the basketball court, the Lady Tigers have opened their 2025-26 season and are competing in the Ennis tournament through Saturday. Corsicana dropped its opener Tuesday to Waco High.
