Third-ranked Decatur Lady Eagles basketball is closing out tournament play this week while continuing to build momentum early in District 7-4A action.

The Lady Eagles are wrapping up the Championship Tournament in Saginaw, which began Monday and concludes Wednesday. Decatur entered the event with a 15-4 record and riding a three-game winning streak. That run included dominant wins in the first two District 7-4A contests a 104-16 rout of Lake Worth followed by a 69-41 victory over Bridgeport.

Decatur opened tournament play with a notable matchup against Lorena, which came in at 14-5, providing an early test as the Lady Eagles balance district play with high-level non-district competition. Through the first half of the season, Decatur has shown depth and efficiency on both ends of the floor.

Sophomore point guard Style Brazile continues to lead the way. Brazile is averaging nearly 15 points per game and has been a steady presence in guiding the offense, particularly during the early district blowouts.

On the boys’ side, Decatur basketball is also finishing up action this week at the Championship Tournament hosted by Eagle Mountain High School. The event started Monday and concludes Wednesday. The Eagles entered the tournament at 5-6 overall and are using the opportunity to generate momentum ahead of district play.

Both Decatur programs return to league action Saturday with District 7-4A games at home against Castleberry. The matchup marks the district opener for the Eagles, while the Lady Eagles look to continue their strong start in league play.
