No. 1 Decatur girls basketball continues to set the pace in District 7-4A as the Lady Eagles march toward another league championship.
Decatur began the week at 22-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 in district play, carrying a remarkable 31-game district winning streak that dates back to the 2022-23 season. The Lady Eagles opened their week Tuesday against Springtown before traveling to Burkburnett on Saturday as they look to further solidify their position atop the district standings.
Meanwhile, the Decatur boys basketball team has endured a challenging stretch. The Eagles entered the week at 7-12 overall and 1-2 in District 7-4A after losing seven of their last nine games. Last week proved especially difficult, with lopsided losses to Krum and Eagle Mountain. Decatur hosted Springtown on Tuesday and will look to regroup when it travels to Burkburnett on Friday.
On the pitch, Decatur boys soccer has been one of the bright spots early in the winter season. The Eagles are off to a 3-0-1 start through the first two weeks, showing balance on both ends of the field. Decatur faced Weatherford on Tuesday and returns home Thursday to take on HSAA as it continues its strong non-district run.
The Lady Eagles soccer team has faced a tougher road early, starting the season at 0-5. However, context matters, as Decatur opened the year playing up in competition at the Southlake Carroll tournament two weeks ago, facing several higher-classification opponents. The Lady Eagles were on the road Tuesday at Denton High and return home Friday to face Castleberry, where they will look to gain momentum heading deeper into the season.
