The Decatur Lady Eagles basketball team continues to assert itself as the standard in District 7-4A play, carrying momentum into another pivotal week on the schedule.

Top-ranked Decatur entered the week riding an eight-game winning streak and holding the No. 1 spot in the state rankings after climbing from third before the holiday break. The Lady Eagles hosted Krum on Tuesday and are set to travel to Eagle Mountain on Friday in what shapes up as another key district test.

Decatur’s most recent performance left little doubt about its form. Last Saturday, the Lady Eagles overwhelmed Castleberry of River Oaks, 101-4, in a dominant district showing that reinforced their position atop 7-4A.

On the boys side, Eagle basketball also faces a demanding stretch in district competition. Decatur hosted seventh-ranked Krum on Tuesday and will play on the road at Eagle Mountain on Friday. The Eagles began the week with a 7-9 overall record but opened district play on a positive note last Saturday with a 58-42 victory over Castleberry.

While basketball remains in full swing, soccer season is also gaining momentum in Decatur.

The Lady Eagles soccer team moved into its second week of action after opening the season at Southlake Carroll’s tournament. Decatur used the early event as a measuring stick, facing several Class 5A and Class 6A programs to prepare for the months ahead. The Lady Eagles returned to action Tuesday with a road match at Stephenville and are off for the remainder of the week.

The boys soccer program has also officially begun its season, marking a busy winter slate for Decatur athletics across multiple sports.

With district basketball games intensifying and soccer season finding its footing, Decatur remains firmly in the spotlight. The Lady Eagles continue to set the pace on the court, while the Eagles and both soccer programs look to build consistency as league play and early-season challenges unfold.
