Decatur closed the 2025 football season with another consistent and competitive run under head coach Steve Huff, finishing 8-4 and reaching the Class 4A Division I Region I semifinals.
After opening the year with two losses, the Eagles rebounded by winning eight of their final 10 games. Their postseason push included victories over Castleberry of River Oaks and Paris before ending in a 33-7 loss to No. 1-ranked Celina, a current state semifinalist.
The appearance marked the third time in four seasons that Decatur advanced to a third playoff game. It also extended the program’s playoff streak to 13 consecutive years.
The Eagles are positioned to return significant offensive and defensive production in 2026. Quarterback Rhys Ragan, who threw for 2,500 yards and 32 touchdowns as a sophomore, will enter his junior season. Running back Jake Milligan, the team’s second-leading rusher, returns after finishing just shy of 900 yards. Rising junior receiver Wyatt Dunn also narrowly missed the 900-yard mark. On defense, safety Colton Braziel returns after recording more than 100 tackles in 2025.
With key playmakers back on both sides of the ball, Decatur enters the offseason with momentum and expectations for another deep postseason push.
