Decatur High School will continue in Class 4A Division I for the upcoming UIL realignment cycle, according to cutoff numbers released last week. The announcement comes as no surprise for the district.

Decatur submitted an enrollment figure of 1,147 earlier this year, slightly down from the 1,163 reported two years ago. The number keeps the school among the larger programs in 4A Division I, where the enrollment range spans from 896 to 1,304 students. The classification applies primarily to football, while other sports compete in separate districts.

Decatur football is concluding its run in District 5-4A alongside Springtown and several Fort Worth ISD schools. Other varsity sports compete in District 7-4A with Springtown, Eagle Mountain, Krum, Burkburnett, Lake Worth, Castleberry and Bridgeport.

The UIL will announce new district alignments on Feb. 2, providing schools time to prepare for the 2026-27 season.
