Top-ranked Decatur Lady Eagles basketball advanced smoothly into the area round of the Class 4A Division I playoffs Monday. In the Region I opening round, Decatur treated its matchup against Carter-Riverside like a scrimmage, rolling to a 109-13 rout. It marked the fourth time this season the Lady Eagles scored over 100 points and extended their winning streak to 20 consecutive games.
Decatur now faces Wolfforth Frenship Memorial Friday at 6 p.m. at Stamford High School. Memorial earned its playoff berth with a 58-31 win over Stephenville Tuesday.
On the boys side, Decatur concluded its season Tuesday with a 77-55 loss at Bridgeport. The Eagles finished 9-21 overall and 3-11 in District 7-4A.
In soccer, the Eagles boys team entered the week unbeaten at 10-0-2 overall and 3-0 in District 4-4A. They played Burkburnett Tuesday and were scheduled to host Mineral Wells Friday. The Lady Eagles soccer team stood at 4-7 overall and 2-1 in district play, following the same schedule as the boys.
