Top-ranked Decatur’s march toward a second straight state championship is halfway complete, but the matchup many anticipated has arrived. The No. 1 Lady Eagles will face No. 2 Canyon in the Class 4A Division I Region I finals Friday at Childress High School. Tipoff time is to be announced and will be posted on school and social media platforms, as a Tuesday playoff game impacted scheduling.

Decatur advanced with a 47-29 win over 10th-ranked Seminole on Monday in the regional semifinals at Abilene Wylie High School. Bralyn Peck led the Lady Eagles with 13 points. Decatur, now 34-4, held a narrow 24-23 lead at halftime before outscoring the Lady Indians 23-6 in the second half to pull away.

Decatur boys soccer opened the week at 12-0-2 overall and 5-0 in District 4-4A. The Eagles have clinched a playoff berth and are working to secure the district title. They hosted Bridgeport on Tuesday and travel to Graham on Friday.

Lady Eagles soccer is 6-7 overall and 4-1 in district play and has also locked in a postseason spot. The team followed the same schedule as the boys this week.
