Decatur baseball remains perfect in District 7-4A play, while Lady Eagles softball is closing in on a postseason berth.

The Eagles baseball team entered the week 14-6-1 overall and 6-0 in district action. Decatur opened a key series against Bridgeport on Tuesday at home, with the return game set for Friday on the road. The Eagles are coming off a sweep of Burkburnett last week, winning 11-5 and 11-7 to maintain their spot atop the district standings.

Lady Eagles softball is in position to clinch a playoff spot with two weeks remaining in the regular season. Decatur began the week 10-7 overall and 6-3 in district play, tied for third with Eagle Mountain and holding a two-game lead over fifth-place Castleberry with three games left. The Lady Eagles had a bye Tuesday and host Eagle Mountain on Friday.

Decatur’s girls golf team is advancing to the Class 4A Region I tournament next week in Lubbock after finishing second at the District 7-4A tournament.

Meanwhile, the District 7-4A track meet is underway in Springtown, having started Wednesday and concluding Thursday.
