The Cliff Watkins era gets underway Friday as Decatur travels to Eagle Mountain to take on the Knights. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in northern Tarrant County.
The Eagles open the season ranked No. 7 in the Class 4A Division I state poll after finishing 8-4 last year. Will Chaney is the new starting quarterback for Decatur after working his way through the program.
Lady Eagles volleyball went through a tri-match Tuesday night at Argyle against both Aubrey and Argyle. Decatur entered the week with a 13-6 record.
Tournament play continues Friday and Saturday at Grapevine High School. Last week at the Granbury Tournament, the Lady Eagles went 7-2 and captured the Silver Bracket championship.
Head coach Stormi Snyder also collected her 300th career victory.
In cross country, the Decatur girls won the Friday Night Hawk Invite last Friday in Carrollton. The Lady Eagles edged Highland Park for the team title on a tiebreaker, with Decatur’s sixth runner finishing ahead of Highland Park’s sixth runner.
