FORT WORTH, Texas — It was a historic night for Eagle Mountain football Friday as the Knights earned their first-ever season-opening victory, a 34-21 road win over Jacksboro.
The Knights’ defense endured some frustrations but more than made up for it by forcing four turnovers, including three interceptions. On offense, sophomore quarterback Kayden Steward directed a balanced attack that helped Eagle Mountain secure the milestone win.
The Knights now turn their focus to the home opener Friday against Grandview. The Zebras opened their season with a 28-14 victory over Glen Rose. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
In volleyball, the Lady Knights began the week 16-11 after a 4-4 showing at Volleypalooza in Leander. They played their final non-district match Tuesday at Paradise and will be off Friday before beginning district play Sept. 9.
Eagle Mountain’s cross country teams are scheduled to run Saturday in Haltom City.
