Eagle Mountain is closing in on clinching a playoff berth for the second straight year as a varsity football program. The Knights can secure their spot Friday with a home win over Mineral Wells.
Eagle Mountain enters the matchup 6-2 overall and 2-1 in District 3-4A, having already guaranteed a winning season. In last week’s 48-0 victory over Bridgeport, quarterback Brycen Vindiola threw for 202 yards and four touchdowns. Receiver Jaxon Trammell accounted for 164 of those yards and caught three touchdown passes.
Mineral Wells comes in 3-5 overall and 1-2 in district play. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
On the volleyball court, the fifth-ranked Lady Knights are moving into the Class 4A Division II playoffs. They’ll open postseason play at home Thursday at 5 p.m. against Fort Worth Dunbar. Eagle Mountain finished the regular season 31-11 overall and dominated District 7-4A with a perfect 14-0 record, dropping only one set in district play.
In cross country, the Lady Knights turned in a solid performance at the Class 4A Region I meet last week at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock, placing 15th out of 24 teams.
