Rapid growth is driving big changes for Eagle Mountain athletics, as the UIL announced last week that the school will move from Class 4A Division II to Class 5A Division II.

The high school reported an enrollment of 1,315 students earlier this year, just above the 5A Division II floor of 1,305. This marks a more than 50% increase from the school’s opening enrollment of 863 students, prompting the jump in classification.

With the move, Eagle Mountain football will leave District 3-4A, where it competed alongside Graham, Mineral Wells, Burkburnett, Brock and Bridgeport. Other sports programs will depart District 7-4A, which included schools such as Decatur and Springtown.

The UIL is scheduled to announce the new district alignments on Feb. 2, giving Eagle Mountain time to prepare for the 2026-27 cycle.
