The Eagle Mountain girls golf team is competing at the Class 4A Region I tournament Wednesday and Thursday in Lubbock at Shadow Hills Golf Course on the South Plains.
The team dominated the field and won the District 7-4A tournament by more than 50 strokes two weeks ago and now hopes to qualify for state later this month in Austin. However, the regional field will be challenging.
Lady Eagles softball is 19-10-1 overall and 8-3 in District 7-4A. The team has clinched a playoff spot entering the final week of the regular season.
They had a non-district game Tuesday against TAPPS school John Paul II and will play at Springtown on Friday.
Baseball has an important series against Decatur this week, with Tuesday’s game at home and Friday’s matchup in Decatur.
Eagle Mountain is 13-10 overall and 5-3 in District 7-4A and can clinch a playoff spot this week.
Last week, the Knights swept Castleberry, 8-2 and 11-1, and also won a Saturday non-district game against Lipan, 12-2.
At the District 7-4A track meet last week in Springtown, Emily Burton won the 100-meter dash, while the girls 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams also took first place.
They will compete in the area meet Thursday, also in Springtown.
