Lady Knights softball is moving on to the Class 4A postseason.
They open the Division II Region I playoffs with a best-of-three series against Benbrook. Game 1 is Thursday in Benbrook, followed by Game 2 Friday at Eagle Mountain. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. A possible deciding Game 3 would be Saturday at noon in Benbrook.
The Lady Knights finished the regular season 19-12-1 overall and 8-4 in District 7-4A, good enough for third place.
They had a tough final week, losing a non-district game to private school John Paul II, 16-1, and then falling in the district finale to Springtown, 5-3.
Baseball controls its playoff destiny. A split with last-place Lake Worth will send the Knights to the postseason.
Eagle Mountain is 13-12 overall and 5-5 in District 7-4A. The Knights dropped a pair of close 3-2 decisions to Decatur last week.
At the area track meet last week in Springtown, Eagle Mountain regional qualifiers include Isaiah Wade in the pole vault, Emily Burton in the 100-meter dash, and Josslyn Bayer in the shot put and discus, along with the girls 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams.
