The Eagle Mountain Knights soccer team advanced to the Class 4A Division II Region I area round with a 1-0 victory over Ferris Tuesday at Mustang-Panther Stadium in Grapevine. The Knights came into the match 11-5-2, while Ferris was 17-3-2. Eagle Mountain had also won its playoff opener last Thursday against Benbrook, 1-0, on a first-half goal.
The Lady Knights soccer season ended with a tough 6-0 loss to Benbrook on Friday. Eagle Mountain finishes 7-11-2, with Benbrook entering the match as District 7-4A champions.
Eagle Mountain baseball opened the District 7-4A season 9-7 and 1-1 after splitting with Bridgeport last week. The Knights lost the opener 2-1 but bounced back to win the return game, 9-2. This week includes a district bye, though non-district contests are scheduled Tuesday at W.T. White (Dallas) and Saturday at home versus Glen Rose.
The Lady Knights softball team improved to 15-8-1 overall and 4-1 in District 7-4A with wins over Castleberry and Decatur last week. They hosted Springtown Tuesday and travel to Burkburnett Friday.
