The energy is high, and the stakes are even higher as Springtown takes on Decatur this Friday night in what promises to be one of the most exciting matchups of the season.
Springtown enters the game undefeated at 9-0, marking its first perfect regular-season run in 37 years. Decatur, sitting at 5-2, has been heating up at the right time with big wins and consistent growth on both sides of the ball.
For Springtown, it’s about keeping the streak alive and protecting that perfect record heading into the postseason. For Decatur, it’s about proving they can go toe-to-toe with one of the district’s best and make a statement before playoff season begins. Extending beyond the post season, this game carries pride, rivalry, and a sense of determination that both fanbases know all too well.
Springtown senior Christian Mendoza (#5, WR) said, “we’re really amped up about this game. It’s a really good feeling knowing that it’s going to be a competitive rivalry game and knowing that we’re fighting for a district championship and it’s a blessing to be in this position and it’s something we’ve been working towards since the start of the season and it’s here now”
Springtown teammate Jon Anthony Lardizabal (#2, RB) added, “It’s about bringing it back to God… encounter His presence and giving it all to him… Remember who I’m playing for and that football is just my ministry and, balling up for Him, you know, one man audience.”
For Decatur, the focus will be on finding ways to slow down Springtown’s balanced attack. Offensive standouts like Jamari Fletcher (#0, RB/SB) and Chase Berg (#1, WR) have been difference-makers all season, keeping defenses on their heels. Sophomore quarterback Rhys Ragan (#13) continues to grow into a confident leader, bringing both poise and energy to the offense.
Ragan said, “We’re ready for the challenge. Every game we play is a chance to prove who we are, and this one’s no different.”
Decatur Coach Collin White added, “We prepared for this game just like we did the last eight that we’ve played… Every game that we prepare for is just as important as the next.”
Friday night’s showdown will be one fans won’t want to miss. Expect a battle full of heart, hustle, and high-level football from start to finish. Whether it turns into an offensive shootout or a defensive standoff, both teams are coming in hungry and prepared.
Grab your blue and white, or your orange and black, and get ready to cheer, because this is the game to watch.
