The Glen Rose Tigers have already clinched a playoff berth, but Friday’s home game against Benbrook will decide the District 4-4A championship. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers enter the matchup 3-5 overall but a perfect 3-0 in district play. Benbrook sits at 5-3 and 3-0.
Last week, Glen Rose didn’t escape the severe weather that swept through North Texas, but the Tigers had already done plenty of damage in a 70-0 Homecoming rout of Venus before the game was called late in the third quarter. The defense forced five turnovers, while senior Ryder Ribitzki scored three touchdowns, two on offense and one on defense.
In volleyball, the Lady Tigers faced a tough challenge Thursday night in the opening round of the Class 4A Division II Region I playoffs, meeting top-ranked Lubbock Liberty. The match was held at Abilene Cooper High School. Glen Rose closed the regular season at 27-16 overall and 6-4 in District 6-4A, finishing third in the standings.
