It has been a true yo-yo season for the Glen Rose Tigers, an 0-5 start followed by a five-game surge to finish 5-5. The important part: they’re in the playoffs.

Glen Rose opened the Class 4A Division II Region I postseason Thursday night against Mineral Wells at Art Briles Stadium in Stephenville. The Rams entered at 4-6 and were bolstered by the return of quarterback Brogan Sims, who recently came back from injury and has sparked their offense.

The Tigers wrapped up their regular season Nov. 6 with a 43-20 win over Dunbar, completing a perfect 5-0 run through District 4-4A. Quarterback Judd Connally closed the regular season with more than 1,800 passing yards and over 1,000 rushing yards, leading an offense that found its rhythm late in the year.

The Glen Rose–Mineral Wells winner advances to the area round to face either Levelland or Seminole, who also played Thursday.

On the basketball court, the Lady Tigers opened their season Tuesday with a 53-30 loss to Joshua. They return home Friday to host Alvarado.

This week also included a major milestone on campus: National Signing Day. Senior Alex Arrington signed with Southern Illinois to continue her volleyball career. Congratulations to her on the achievement.
