GLEN ROSE, Texas — The 2025 football season begins Friday for the Tigers as Cliff Watkins’ program looks for another deep postseason run. Watkins has settled on his starting quarterback after fall camp wrapped up last week with a second scrimmage against Lorena.

The opener will be on the road in Johnson County against Grandview, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. Sophomore Judd Connally will get the start at quarterback after gaining quality reps during the scrimmages. In the first meeting last season in Glen Rose, the Tigers dominated the Zebras 48-13.

In volleyball, the Lady Tigers were 11-9 entering play in the Joshua Showcase, which runs through Saturday. Glen Rose fell at Springtown in four sets Tuesday but will host Granbury next Tuesday.

The cross country teams competed Wednesday at the Keene event. The girls placed third last week at the Hillsboro meet.
