The Glen Rose girls and boys golf teams turned in strong performances at the Class 4A state tournaments in Austin, capping successful seasons for both programs.
The Lady Tigers finished second at the Class 4A girls state tournament Monday and Tuesday at Legends Golf Course with a team score of 637. For the second time this postseason, Glen Rose finished behind Andrews after also placing second to the Lady Mustangs at the Region I tournament three weeks earlier in Lubbock.
Glen Rose placed three golfers in the top 14 individually, led by sophomore Caris Colwick, who tied for eighth place. Region I champion Alyssa Lester, also a sophomore, finished 10th, while senior Caitlyn Frush closed her high school career tied for 14th.
On the boys side, senior Jackson Amburn competed at the Class 4A boys state tournament April 27-28. Amburn finished 26th overall and placed in the top third of a field featuring more than 70 golfers.
