GRAHAM, Texas — The Steers opened the 2025 season on the right note, rallying past Midland Christian 17-7 on the road Friday night.
Ranked No. 10 in Class 4A Division II, Graham trailed 7-0 entering the fourth quarter before scoring all 17 points in the final frame to seal the win.
Quarterback Jace Gill led the comeback, accounting for 320 yards from scrimmage. He threw for 230 yards and a touchdown pass to Parker Hale while adding 90 rushing yards and a score on the ground.
Graham will return home Friday for its home opener against Springtown at Newton Field. The Porcupines, ranked No. 16 in Class 4A Division I, defeated Joshua 30-9 in their opener. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Springtown won the 2024 meeting between the two teams in Parker County.
In volleyball, the Lady Blues entered the week 20-5 after finishing 5-2 at the Denver City tournament. They were off Tuesday and will host Iowa Park on Friday.
Graham’s cross country teams are scheduled to compete Wednesday in Wichita Falls.
