There were signs of progress, but plenty of work remains for Granbury football as it heads into the offseason. Head coach Bobby Allison’s second season came to a close Friday with a 34-7 road loss to playoff-bound Brewer.
The Pirates’ lone touchdown came on a rushing score by senior Chase Cantrell, a fitting end to a strong career. Turnovers proved costly for Granbury, as the offense gave the ball away four times, leading to Brewer scores.
Granbury finishes the 2025 season 2-8 overall and 1-7 in District 3-5A. Looking ahead, the program could soon see a major shift, as it may move up to Class 6A when the UIL releases its realignment in February 2026.
On the basketball court, the Lady Pirates opened their season Friday with a thrilling 56-53 road victory over McKinney in the debut of new head coach Brad Blalock, who joined the program in May after leading Christoval. Granbury continues non-district play tonight at Comanche before heading to Abilene for tournament action Thursday through Saturday.
