Granbury wrapped up its 2025 football season with signs of progress, though head coach Bobby Allison knows there’s still plenty of work ahead. The Pirates finished 2-8 overall and 1-7 in District 3-5A in Allison’s second year leading the program.

Despite the record, Granbury showed encouraging improvement on the defensive side. The Pirates allowed a respectable 360 yards per game and forced double-digit turnovers, including six interceptions. The bigger challenge was on offense, where the team averaged just 232 yards and 16 points per game. With senior quarterback Austin Reeves graduating, Allison will turn his attention to developing a new starter under center as the program moves into the offseason.

On the hardwood, Lady Pirates basketball is off to a 4-3 start after competing in the Abilene Wylie tournament last weekend, where they went 2-3 with wins over Tuscola Jim Ned and Arlington Martin. Granbury hosts Burleson on Tuesday.

The Pirates boys basketball team is still searching for its first win, beginning the season 0-2. Both losses, however, came in close contests against Haltom and Joshua, offering optimism that a breakthrough could come soon.
