It’s the pride-and-joy event for both Granbury boys and girls basketball programs. The Granbury Kia Basketball Tournaments start Tuesday at the James Wann Center. This annual event has attracted quality teams in both the boys and girls brackets and promises to be a great showcase for the entire community.

Lady Pirate basketball enters the tournament at 6-5. The team split its two games last week, beating Glen Rose 37-33 but losing at Decatur 73-30. No shame in that loss, the Lady Eagles are the reigning Class 4A Division I state champions.

Granbury moves on to this weekend’s tournament. The Pirates have not gotten the start they hoped for this season, sitting at 1-6. After a 48-45 win over Fort Bend Christian Academy, Granbury fell to Prosper last week, 56-42.

On a note from team tennis earlier this fall, Colten Whitefield was named District 5-5A MVP.
