Granbury basketball teams are active this week, participating in holiday tournaments ahead of district competition.
The Lady Pirates are competing in the West Oso Tournament, which began Monday and runs through Tuesday. Granbury enters the event with a 10-10 overall record and a three-game winning streak. The Lady Pirates are off to a strong 2-0 start in District 5-5A, including a blowout win over Saginaw, 61-34, on Dec. 16, and a road victory at Lipan, 54-48, during their first of two district byes on Dec. 19.
The boys team is competing in the Bridgeport Tournament, also running Monday through Tuesday. Granbury boys have struggled this season, entering the tournament with a 2-13 record. Prior to the holiday break, the Pirates lost to Richland, 71-42, and to Wylie, 61-56, a game that was tied entering the fourth quarter.
Both boys and girls soccer seasons are set to begin next week.
