The annual Granbury Kia tournament delivered another strong weekend of competition, giving both Pirate basketball programs valuable experience as they move deeper into non-district play.

For the Granbury girls, it was a challenging slate, but not without its bright spots. The Lady Pirates went 1–3, earning a dominant 50–11 win over Abilene to open the event. They battled through tough matchups in their three losses, facing Canyon Randall, Class 6A Byron Nelson and Burleson Centennial. Now 7–9 on the season, Granbury continues to build toward district play. The Lady Pirates host Midlothian Heritage on Tuesday, then open the December portion of the District 5-5A schedule Friday at home against Keller Fossil Ridge.

On the boys’ side, the Pirates remain in the early stages of growth with a 1–11 record. Granbury faced another difficult weekend at the tournament but is focused on improvement as the season progresses. The Pirates travel to Waco Midway on Tuesday before returning home Friday to take on Richland.

Both teams continue to gain valuable reps as December competition arrives.
