This Granbury Pirates Sports Minute is brought to you by Granbury Kia
As Granbury wraps up the 2025-26 athletics season, one of the biggest storylines is the Pirates moving up in classification.
Following February’s UIL realignment, Granbury will compete in Class 6A beginning this fall. The Pirates will be part of an eight-team district that includes the five Arlington schools, Aledo and Weatherford.
Coach Bobby Allison’s football program completed spring workouts in the middle of May. One of the major questions heading into the season is who will emerge as Granbury’s starting quarterback.
Because the Pirates conducted spring football practices, they will not begin fall camp until Aug. 10. Contact workouts can start Aug. 15. Granbury will also play one scrimmage before the regular season, facing Eagle Mountain, which is moving up from Class 4A to 5A this fall.
The Pirates will open the 2026 football season Aug. 28 at home against Cleburne.
Volleyball season officially begins Aug. 1.
