Krum athletics will remain at the Class 4A Division II level for the next two years following the University Interscholastic League’s biannual realignment, released Monday. As usual, football and other sports will compete in separate districts.
For football, the Bobcats are placed in District 6-4A in Region II. The six-team district includes Gainesville, Lake Worth, Ponder (which is moving up), Sanger and Van Alstyne. Head coach Chris Taber’s program will play a five-game non-district schedule against Kennedale, Burkburnett, Lake Dallas, Eagle Mountain and Paradise.
For the remaining sports, Krum will compete in District 9-4A in Region II. The seven-team district features Aubrey, Gainesville, Lake Dallas, Ponder, Sanger and Van Alstyne.
On the hardwood, seventh-ranked Krum boys basketball has already clinched a playoff berth. The Lady Bobcats, however, still have work to do. They must win Tuesday at Bridgeport to secure their postseason spot. A loss could force Krum into a playoff play-in game against Eagle Mountain.
