Krum’s representatives turned in a strong performance at the UIL Class 4A state track and field meet Thursday in Austin.
Senior Marlie Morris reached the podium twice at Mike A. Myers Stadium, earning bronze medals in both the triple jump and long jump. Morris posted a mark of 39 feet, 7.75 inches in the triple jump and followed with a leap of 19 feet, 0.25 inches in the long jump.
Morris also finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles, bringing an outstanding high school track career to a close.
Teammate and fellow senior Kara Heckler also enjoyed a strong showing at the state meet. Heckler placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 37 feet, 5.25 inches and finished seventh in the long jump at 17 feet, 10.75 inches.
