Aledo Hosts Paschal in Area Round Opener
The defending state champions are back under the playoff lights tonight.
The Aledo Bearcats begin the Area Round of the UIL 5A Division I Baseball Playoffs tonight against the Paschal Panthers in Game 1 of a best-of-three series, with first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Aledo. The NTX Varsity Sports pregame show begins live at 7:15 p.m.
Tonight’s matchup features two district champions colliding with identical postseason momentum.
Aledo enters the series after finishing undefeated in District 5-5A play with a perfect 10-0 record, while Paschal claimed the District 7-5A crown with a dominant 12-1 district finish. Both programs swept through the Bi-District Round and arrive in the Area Round undefeated in playoff action.
For Aledo, the postseason carries extra weight.
The Bearcats are the reigning UIL 5A Division I State Champions after capturing the state title during the 2024-25 season. Every playoff game now becomes part of the challenge of defending that crown and making another run back to Austin.
Paschal, however, presents one of the toughest tests Aledo has faced all season.
The Panthers have consistently proven themselves as one of the strongest teams in Region 1, and with both teams entering the series as district champions, tonight’s opener could set the tone for one of the most competitive Area Round matchups in Texas high school baseball.
Game 2 of the series will shift to Paschal, with a potential Game 3 deciding who advances to the Regional Semi-Final Round.
