When November arrives, Malakoff football shifts into another gear, and Thursday night was no exception. In a rematch of last year’s regional final, the Tigers controlled Texarkana Liberty-Eylau from start to finish, earning a 28-13 victory in the Class 3A Division I Region II bi-district round.

Malakoff (8-3) stormed to a 25-0 halftime lead at Mount Vernon High School and rode that momentum to its sixth straight win. Running back Jerrion Hall again proved unstoppable, rushing for 267 yards and two touchdowns. His biggest moment came on a 90-yard scoring burst that broke the game open.

With the win, the Tigers advance to the area round, where they will face No. 9 Pottsboro. The Cardinals (10-1) opened their postseason with a 56-35 win over Maypearl. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Greenville.

On the hardwood, the Lady Tigers basketball program sits at 1-2 following a 44-27 loss to Palestine on Friday. Malakoff continues non-district play on the road at Brownsboro.
