Malakoff girls’ basketball wrapped up the first of three consecutive tournament weekends with a solid showing in the Athens tournament. One of the most notable results came in a 45–36 victory over Class 5A Ennis, a confidence-building win for a team continuing to find its rhythm early in the season.
The Lady Tigers, now 4–6, have shown progress after a 1–3 start, splitting their last six games. They return to action Tuesday with a road matchup at Brook Hill before heading into their second tournament of the season, a three-day event in Frankston running Thursday through Saturday.
On the boys’ side, the Tigers are just getting started after football season pushed back the beginning of their schedule. Malakoff opened with two losses to Rice and Waco Robinson but turned things around at the Blooming Grove tournament, securing wins over Dawson and host Blooming Grove.
The Tigers sit at 2–2 entering this week and get another shot at Blooming Grove on Tuesday as they continue building early-season momentum.
