Final week of the regular season for the playoff-bound Lady Tiger softball team. They had their bye last Tuesday, then beat Brook Hill out of Bullard this past Friday, 9-7.
Malakoff comes into this week 19-10 overall and 7-3 in District 15-3A.
Senior night is Tuesday against district leader Grand Saline, then Friday on the road at last-place Winona.
This team would need to win out and get some help to have a chance to earn a share of the district championship.
Tiger baseball earned a big sweep of Mineola last week by scores of 5-0 and 7-5. Malakoff is 17-4-3 overall and 7-1 in District 15-3A, and the Tigers have clinched a playoff spot.
The team also features an eight-game winning streak. They are now fighting for the district championship along with Edgewood and Quitman.
They have an interesting series with Grand Saline this week, Tuesday at home and Friday on the road.
At the District 15-3A track meet last week in Mineola, Miley Dowell won the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump. Bree Tinney won the discus. The girls 4×100 relay team also won.
