Malakoff Tiger baseball captured the District 15-3A championship after splitting its regular-season finale series against Edgewood.

The Tigers fell 3-1 last Tuesday but responded with an 11-1 win in Friday’s clincher to secure the district title. Malakoff finishes the regular season 20-5-3 overall and 10-2 in District 15-3A, one game ahead of both Edgewood and Quitman. The playoffs begin this week.

The Lady Tigers softball season came to an end last week against a strong White Oak program. Malakoff was swept in its Class 3A Division I Region II series, falling 9-6 and 14-3. The Lady Tigers conclude the season with a 20-13 record.

The Class 3A Region II track meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Whitehouse High School in East Texas. Malakoff will be well represented, with Miley Dowell competing in the triple jump and high jump, the girls 4×100 relay team also qualifying, and Chase McKean set to run in the boys 400 meters.
