The overall depth of Malakoff’s athletics program was on display again during the 2025-26 school year.

Coach Jamie Driskell’s football team overcame a difficult non-district schedule to once again reach the postseason. The Tigers qualified for the playoffs for the 17th consecutive season and finished with an 8-4 record. Although Malakoff fell short of a third straight state championship appearance, the program remained one of the area’s consistent contenders.

The Lady Tigers basketball team also turned in an impressive season despite featuring a young roster. Malakoff reached the Class 3A playoffs and won a postseason game before finishing with an 18-17 record.

In the spring, Malakoff baseball captured the District 15-3A championship and won 20 games during another successful campaign. Lady Tigers softball also reached the playoffs and posted a 20-win season.

In track and field, junior Miley Dowell represented Malakoff at the UIL Class 3A state meet earlier this month, continuing her standout athletic year.

Malakoff now turns its attention toward competing in a new district following the UIL realignment announced in February.
