Mildred – The Mildred Eagles look to bounce back Friday as District 8-2A play continues on the road at Cayuga. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Both teams are 4-2 and looking to rebound from losses in their district openers.

Mildred fell 32-6 at Frankston last Friday, struggling to move the ball and committing three turnovers. The Eagles finished with fewer than 200 yards of offense but avoided the shutout with a fourth-quarter touchdown.

Cayuga also dropped its opener, falling to Carlisle 14-7.

The Lady Eagles volleyball team is closing in on the District 21-2A title after already clinching a playoff spot. Mildred, 25-9 overall and 5-0 in district play, faced North Hopkins in a non-district match Tuesday and resumes league play Friday at Cayuga.

Both the Mildred boys and girls cross country teams advanced to the Region III meet after strong finishes at the District 18-2A meet last week in Hubbard. Senior Dixie Trujillo led the girls to the team title, while senior David Villanueva helped the boys take second.
