As of Tuesday’s meeting between athletic director Jeff Callahan and basketball coaches Lance Key and Laura Jenkins, Mildred’s District 18-2A boys and girls basketball games at Dawson remain scheduled for Friday. However, with winter weather forecasted to arrive Friday night, school officials urge fans to continue checking the district website and social media platforms for any schedule changes.
On the court, both Mildred programs continue to put together strong seasons. The Lady Eagles opened the second half of District 18-2A play at 13-10 overall and 5-1 in league action, sitting alone in second place. Mildred trails district leader and No. 24 Frost by one game. In their lone contest last week, the Lady Eagles earned a convincing 45-23 win over Italy before hosting Kerens on Tuesday.
The Eagles’ boys team has been equally impressive. Mildred began the week at 15-3 overall and atop the District 18-2A standings with a 4-0 record. The Eagles entered the week riding a six-game winning streak after a 63-46 victory over Italy. Prior to Tuesday’s matchup with Kerens, Mildred had won each of its first four district games by at least 13 points.
