The Mildred Eagles remain in the hunt for the District 8-2A championship and can clinch a playoff berth Friday night when they travel to Price Carlisle. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Mildred enters the matchup 6-2 overall and 2-1 in district play, while Carlisle is 4-4 and also 2-1. Last week, the Eagles’ defense led the way in a 37-13 win over Kerens. Running back Trent Harris rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Luke McKendree threw two touchdown passes.

On the volleyball court, the District 21-2A champion Lady Eagles open postseason play tonight in the Region III Division I playoffs. Due to Tuesday’s matchups, Mildred will face either Normangee or Centerville. Fans can check the school’s website for final details. The Lady Eagles enter the playoffs 29-9 after going 8-0 in district play and closing the regular season with a win over Kerens.

In cross country, Mildred senior David Villanueva will return to compete at the UIL Class 2A state meet Saturday morning at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Villanueva also qualified for state in 2024.
