The Mildred Eagles begin their Class 2A Division I postseason tonight, taking on Dawson in the Region II bi-district round. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Corsicana’s Community National Bank and Trust Stadium.
Mildred finished the regular season 8-2 overall and 4-1 in District 8-2A, while Dawson enters the playoffs 5-5. The Eagles closed their regular season last Friday with a 39-0 shutout of Cross Roads, jumping out to a 26-0 first-quarter lead. Running back Trent Harris led the charge with three touchdowns as head coach Jeff Callahan’s squad dominated from start to finish.
Fans can tune in to 106.9 FM for full coverage of the playoff opener, with the Corsicana broadcast crew of Rusty Hitt, Raymond Linex and Chuck Williams on the call. The pregame show begins at 6:30 p.m.
On the volleyball court, the No. 8-ranked Lady Eagles continued their deepest playoff run in school history, facing Leon on Tuesday at Waco Robinson High School in the Class 2A Division I Region III championship. Mildred entered the regional final 32-9 after sweeping Overton in last week’s semifinal. Leon came in 29-8.
