Mildred’s strong 2025 football campaign came to a close Friday with a 27-14 loss to Hamilton in the Class 2A Division I Region II area round, in a game aired on 106.9 FM The Ranch from Waco Robinson. The Eagles finish the season at 9-3, marking their third straight winning year under head coach Jeff Callahan.
Mildred opened the postseason with a decisive 40-14 win over Dawson two weeks earlier, but Hamilton proved more difficult. The Eagles trailed 13-7 at halftime and ultimately produced nearly 400 yards of total offense, yet three turnovers proved costly, including a late giveaway that dashed hopes of a rally.
Junior quarterback Luke McKendree threw for 216 yards and a touchdown, while junior running back Trenton Harris added 105 rushing yards and a score.
Despite the loss, the program continues to trend upward with its third consecutive playoff appearance. A full season wrap-up will come next week.
On the hardwood, the Lady Eagles are just beginning their season following the volleyball team’s deep playoff run. They sit at 1-2. The Mildred boys will open their season next week.
