The Lady Eagles basketball regular season has come to a close, and now the focus shifts to the postseason.
Mildred wrapped up the regular season at 16-13 overall and 8-4 in District 18-2A after having its second district bye Tuesday. The Lady Eagles split their final two games last week, defeating Hubbard 58-9 before falling at Italy 46-40.
Mildred enters the Class 2A Division I Region III playoffs as the second Division I seed and will face Marlin Lady Bulldogs in the opening round. Marlin finished the regular season as the District 17-2A champion and entered its Tuesday finale at 20-10 overall and 10-1 in district play.
The matchup will be a rematch of last season’s playoff opener, a game Marlin won 40-32. Dates, times and sites for the bi-district playoff game have not yet been announced. Fans are encouraged to monitor the school’s website and social media accounts for updates.
On the boys side, Mildred Eagles also had a district bye Tuesday and return to action Friday at Kerens. Mildred stands at 21-3 overall and 10-0 in District 18-2A play.
The Eagles have already clinched at least a share of the district title and can secure the outright championship with a win Friday. Mildred enters the matchup riding an 11-game winning streak, including victories over Hubbard and Italy last week.
