Mildred athletics enjoyed a remarkable 2025-26 school year highlighted by state success and continued program-wide consistency.
The biggest accomplishment came in boys golf, where the Eagles captured the Class 2A state championship in April in Austin. Mildred won the team title by eight strokes over Crawford and placed three golfers inside the top 18.
Another major storyline centered on UIL realignment. Mildred’s stay in Class 2A Division I is ending, as the school moves back to Class 3A Division II beginning in August. The Eagles will face a new district and more challenging competition, but coach Jeff Callahan is familiar with navigating both classifications. Mildred football finished the 2025 season with a 9-3 record.
One of the most notable achievements for the athletic department was its across-the-board postseason success. All 14 Mildred sports programs, including two that are not UIL-sanctioned, qualified for postseason play for the second consecutive year.
Among the school’s 12 UIL sports, Eagle and Lady Eagle teams combined to win five district championships while five other teams finished as district runners-up.
The 2026-27 athletics season officially begins Aug. 1.
