Spring sports schedules were adjusted this week as district series were moved up ahead of spring break for Mildred High School teams.
The Mildred baseball team is in the middle of its District 20-2A series against Cayuga. The Eagles dropped the opener on the road Monday, 6-2, before hosting the return game Wednesday. Entering the second matchup, Mildred held an 11-3 overall record and was 3-1 in district play.
Last week, the Eagles opened district competition with a doubleheader sweep of Wortham, winning 12-2 and 15-0. Mildred also suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Lorena in a non-district game Friday.
The Lady Eagles softball team is also facing Cayuga in district play. Mildred won the series opener Monday, 15-5, with the return game scheduled for Wednesday at home. Through Monday, the Lady Eagles were 8-9-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 in District 20-2A, riding a seven-game winning streak.
The Mildred boys and girls track and field teams are off this week for spring break after competing at the Kerens meet last week. Both teams are scheduled to return to action next week in Italy.
