Mineral Wells athletics moved basketball and soccer contests from Friday to Thursday to avoid winter weather disruptions.

Lady Rams basketball earned their first District 6-4A victory Thursday, defeating Graham 44-37. The team had lost Tuesday at Stephenville 38-22 and enters the week 15-14 overall and 1-4 in district play. The Lady Rams face a challenging schedule this week, hosting No. 8 Brownwood on Tuesday and No. 3 Brock on Friday.

The boys basketball team struggled last week, falling to Graham 56-32 on Thursday following an 85-36 loss at Stephenville on Tuesday. Mineral Wells is 12-14 overall and 0-3 in district play, with the same upcoming schedule as the Lady Rams.

In soccer, only the girls competed last week, picking up a 2-1 win over Eagle Mountain. The Lady Rams improve to 4-4-1 and will be back in action Friday at home against Brownwood. The boys’ scheduled match against Western Hills was canceled. Mineral Wells boys soccer is 7-1 and next plays Friday at Wichita Falls Memorial.
