Rams basketball is off to a solid start as the team heads into the second half of the season.

The boys improved to 11-10 with a nail-biting 48-47 victory over Benbrook Friday. Mineral Wells built a commanding 33-15 lead at halftime but had to hold on late to secure the win. Earlier in the week at the Bridgeport Tournament, the Rams went 2-2, picking up wins against Petrolia and Western Hills on the tournament’s second day. Mineral Wells will host Abilene Cooper on Tuesday.

Lady Rams basketball is 13-10 as they continue non-district play. The Lady Rams are scheduled to host Grandview on Tuesday. Mineral Wells went 1-2 at the Clifton Tournament before the New Year’s holiday, with their lone win coming against the host school. The team also dropped a tough game at Lampasas, 45-31, last Friday. District 6-4A play begins Friday at Brownwood.

Soccer seasons are also starting. The Lady Rams are on the road Tuesday at Fort Worth Poly, while the boys kicked off the season over the weekend in the Castleberry Tournament. The boys’ home opener is Tuesday against Brownwood.
