Having their starting quarterback back made all the difference for Mineral Wells, as the Rams surged into the Class 4A Division II playoffs with a dominant 63-7 win over Burkburnett in Friday’s regular-season finale.
The victory secured the final playoff spot from District 3-4A in a must-win game. Mineral Wells finished the regular season 4-6 overall and 2-3 in district play.
Quarterback Brogan Sims continued to prove his value to the team, throwing for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Jackson Hicks added 105 rushing yards and two scores as the Rams’ offense rolled.
Next up, Mineral Wells opens the playoffs against District 4-4A champion Glen Rose on Thursday night at Art Briles Stadium in Stephenville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The Tigers (5-5) are led by standout quarterback Judd Connally, setting up an exciting matchup.
On the basketball court, the Lady Rams opened their 2025-26 season Friday with a close 38-34 loss to Burleson. They’ll look to bounce back Tuesday with a road game at Eagle Mountain.
